SMPGD 2025 Workshop IPMB organizes Statistical Methods for Post-genomics Data Workshop 2025
Statistical Methods for Post-Genomics Data Workshop 2025 organized by Department of Bioinformatics
The 2025 edition of the Workshop Statistical Methods for Post-Genomics Data (SMPGD) was organized in Heidelberg by the Department of Bioinformatics, IPMB (Prof. Dr. Herrmann) in collaboration with the Division of Computational Genomics and System Genetics, DKFZ (Prof. Dr. Stegle). This yearly conference addresses new topics in the field of statistical methods in life sciences, and gathered around 100 international participants for a two-day workshop on January 23rd-24th at Marsilius-Kolleg. The topical sessions focused on the modeling of maladaptation of species to habitat and the concept of genomic offset (Keynote speaker: Matt Fitzpatrick, University of Maryland), the prediction of perturbation in single-cell genomics (Keynote speaker: Charlotte Bunne, EPFL) and the modeling of biological processes through biophysically inspired machine learning (Keynote: Erik van Nimwegen, University Basel). The contributions from invited and contributed speakers gave many opportunities for exciting scientific discussions on new trends in the field of statistical modeling.
The workshop had financial support from the Health and Life Science Alliance Heidelberg Mannheim, the Institute for Scientific Computing (IWR), and well as INRAé and France 2030 from the french side.
